Nico Gordon coming on for his debut

Rising star Nico Gordon couldn't have had much better weekends.

The teenage defender came on to make his senior debut in the draw against Hull City.

And that was on the back of him signing his first professional contract, on Friday evening.

Gordon has penned a three-deal, plus a year's option.

Gordon only turned 18 at the end of April.

But he has continued to make eye-catching progress and is highly thought of by all at the Club.

Gordon began the season by making his Under-23s debut against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in August.

He became a fixture in the Development Squad, and captained Blues Under-18s in the FA Youth Cup.

He was part of Pep Clotet's First Team matchday squad on four occasions before football was suspended due to COVID-19.

Gordon played most of his Under-23s games at right-back, as Geraldo Bajrami and Joe Redmond tended to hold sway in the centre-half spots, with Ben Forrest also an option.

And with five minutes of added-time also, it wasn't just a case of enjoying an easy ride as both teams went at it during the final throes an Hull had sent on giant striker Tom Eaves to try and cause problems.

It was certainly a show of faith by Clotet, Alberto Escobar and Craig Gardner as Wes Harding was also an option among the Blues substitutes.

Gordon, from Edgbaston, joined Blues Academy in 2014 after being scouted in Sunday football.
